LSL Senior 1b
Kilbarrack Utd – 4
Mid-Sutton Sportslink – 1
Kilbarrack Utd maintained their unbeaten league start to the season and went top of the LSL Senior 1B table with an impressive victory over Mid-Sutton Sportslink on Wednesday night.
Kilbarrack started the better of the two sides and had good early chances to open the scoring from Aaron Brennan and Anto Moran but both efforts were well saved.
The hosts continued to knock on the door with Eamon Mulligan and Aaron Humphries going close but again the breakthrough evaded them.
With 31 on the clock the visitors got a lucky break when a long throw into the box took a deflection and spun past former Mid-Sutton Sportslink keeper Conor Ennis in the Kilbarrack goal.
Kilbarrack had further chances in the half but nothing was converted and they went into the half time break ruing missed chances.
The half time team talk obviously worked and within 50 seconds of the restart Kilbarrack were level when Keith Murray headed home an Anto Moran long throw in. Just minutes later Murray had the ball in the net again but it was adjudged offside and soon after he missed a gilt-edged chance in front of goal by putting it wide.
Kilbarrack’s second of the night came with 70 0n the clock when Aaron Brennan fired home from close range and the nerves settled and the floodgates opened.
Just 8 minutes later, Jason Beasley, who had come on to replace Brennan, raced onto a through ball before skipping past the keeper and firing home from an acute angle to make it 3-1.
Kilbarrack created further chances but it took until the last kick of the game in injury time for Eamon Mulligan to grab a deserved goal for his efforts on the night to make it 4-1.
The win moves Kilbarrack to the summit of the LSL Senior 1 table on goal difference, unbeaten after 6 games. Next up is an away trip to Ardmore Rovers on Sunday October 6th.
