LSL Senior 1B

Kilbarrack United – 1

Mt.Merrion – 0

Kilbarrack United got back to winning ways and moved back into third spot in the LSL Senior 1B on Friday night with victory over Mt. Merrion at Greendale Road.

The visitors started the better of the two sides and had some good early chances that required Matt Lyons to be alert to make the saves.

Kilbarrack weathered that early pressure and took the lead on 25 minutes when a ball over the top was raced onto by Eoin Fowler who took a touch before firing past the onrushing keeper.

That goal gave Kilbarrack the confidence to play and they controlled the rest of the half and took a one goal lead into the break.

The second half started much like the first with good early pressure from the visitors but they could not find a way past Lyons in the Kilbarrack goal.

On 57 minutes Fowler came close to grabbing his and Kilbarrack’s second of the night but his lobbed effort went fractionally over the bar.

As the clock ticked down the visitors threw everything at Kilbarrack but the hosts held on to claim a big three points in the race for promotion.
