Hartstown Huntstown FC – 0

Kilbarrack Utd – 1

Kilbarrack Utd secured a massive three points on the road on Friday night with a victory away to fellow league front runners Hartstown Hunstown.

Kilbarrack started the better of the two sides and had early chances to take the lead through Jason Beasley and Aaron Humphries, the latter hitting the post with a good effort.

The home side struggled to get any real foothold on the game as the visitors controlled the tempo but were unable to capitalise in the first half and the sides went into the break level.

Into the second period Kilbarrack again started stronger and took a deserved lead on 59 minutes when Dean Gibbons’ cross-come-shot looked to be heading in before Aaron Humphries poked the ball over the line.

Kilbarrack continued to look comfortable but as the game entered the final quarter began to sit deeper and invite the hosts forward. Hartstown Huntstown began to throw everything forward but only succeeded in leaving gaps in their own defence which Kilbarrack exploited on a couple of occasions.

Anto Moran came close after a quick breakaway and soon after Keith Murray had his strike tipped onto the post.

The referee added five minutes onto the 90 and there were a few nervy moments as the hosts threw everything forward but a resolute Kilbarrack defence held firm to capture a valuable three points.

Next up for Kilbarrack is a home tie against bottom side Corduff next Friday night.
