Club History

Updated Mar 2008

Kilbarrack United F.C. was founded in 1970 in the then fledgling estate of Kilbarrack Foxfield St John. The club enjoyed its heyday in the late seventies when it was rightly regarded as one of the top junior clubs in Dublin, if not in Ireland, attracting players from as far away as the country town of Walkinstown. The club then went into recline for a number of years and but for the dedicated work of a few good people would probably have succumbed to the emergence of other local teams as a force within the community, such as Raheny United, Kilmore Boys, and Grove Celtic.

Things gradually improved on the pitch around 1990 when Kilbarrack were promoted from Division 2b Sunday to Division 1 Sun. It took until 1993/94 season to find our feet when we not only achieved promotion as Champions from Division 1, but also won the J. R. Mullion League Cup as well. Again, it took a couple of seasons to achieve promotion to Premier 'B' as Runner's-Up (1995/96) which is the league we are currently contesting. During our stay in Premier 'B' we won the Italian Embassy Cup (1999), and won promotion to Premier 'A' (2003).

The Saturday team also weighed in with their own double in 1994/95 by contesting the Brian Mc Auley Cup Final against Ballymun United and getting promoted to Senior Saturday the same season. 2007 saw our Div 2 Sun team win The Elastoplast Sports Shield and our junior section has consistently competed for trophies throughout the years.

Presently we cater for 5 Senior Teams, 10 Junior Teams and a Nipper's Academy.
